Energy Smart Homes
Living smart program include energy-smart, earth-smart, health-smart and water-smart homes. Hundreds of new homes that are coming up are using solar energy on a grand scale. Initially solar-capable homes built by Pardee homes in 2002, faced the problem of roof penetration during installation, but this was overcome by a new design of backyard solar paneled trellis. It will have 12 panels of 1.2 kilowatt or 24 panels of 2.4 kilowatt system.
Pardee homes along with the department of electricity are designing homes that would achieve 90 percent saving in energy bills including gas and electricity. Natural gas which still is the most energy efficient technology was used in the houses, hot water heaters were installed on the roofs.
These solar homes reduce the energy bills and also the amount of green gas emission into the atmosphere, and contributing to the community by letting other use the energy that you are not using and also preventing construction of more power plants.
